San Gerardo

Dantica Cloud Forest Lodge

This lodge is located in the heart of Los Santos Forest Reserve, 80km from San José, very close to the newly created Los Quetzales National Park. The seven rooms offer spectacular views of the valley and the cloud-covered mountains while there are eight bungalows featuring one or two bedrooms with a private terrace, heating, satellite TV and Jacuzzi. The Suite is larger and has a fireplace, a sunken Jacuzzi and a private forest garden with its own trail. A delicious picnic basket is available for guests to take on a walk or a tour. Guests can access the private cloud forest reserve, excellent for bird watching. Other services available in the hotel include a playground for children, laundry service and an art gallery.

Savegre Mountain Lodge

Located in San Gerardo de Dota, a small community in the Talamanca mountains, Savegre is at an elevation of 2,200 metres. This mountain lodge offers 41 rooms and suites. The restaurant serves a wide variety of dishes including a rainbow trout freshly caught from the Savegre River. The hotel has a private biological reserve, which consists of 400 hectares of cloud forest. The reserve is ideal for bird watching, 180 bird species have been seen, including the magnificent Quetzal. Guests can also enjoy horseback rides and hiking tours including the Savegre waterfall. The hotel also offers a bar, souvenir shop, laundry service, internet access and Spa.

Trogon Lodge

Trogon Lodge is a farm of 105 acres, located at an altitude of 2,200 metres above sea level. This is the perfect hideaway for nature lovers, birdwatchers and those wanting to get away from it all. The 22 wooden standard rooms and one superior have a porch, all with private bathrooms and hot water. All feature a view of the Savegre River or the forest. Enjoy the combination of the local and international cuisine at the restaurant. A favorite is the fresh trout specially prepared by the chef, caught from the trout pond at the lodge. Guests can take a canopy tour or enjoy a drink at the riverside bar.
