Tortuguero / North Caribbean
Mawamba Lodge
Surrounded by beautiful gardens and situated on a sand bar between the Tortuguero canals and the Caribbean Sea, this lodge provides direct access to the beach. The 54 comfortable standard rooms have a ceiling fan while the additional four standard superior rooms, specially designed for honeymooners, feature a king size bed and a spacious bathroom with bathtub and hair dryer. Hotel facilities include a modern fleet of riverboats, its own private embarking dock in Matina, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, two restaurants, a BBQ area, bar, souvenir shop, games room, ranchos with hammocks, a conference room with daily lectures on local nature and several optional tours and activities.
Evergreen Lodge
This lodge is located five minutes by boat from the main entrance to Tortuguero National Park, and is accessible only by air or water. It takes about 5-6 hours to reach this remote area from San Jose or 30 minutes flights are available as well. The 26 spacious and nicely decorated rooms all have ceiling fans. This jungle lodge offers a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. There are several optional tours available including fishing, canopy, bird watching, kayaking, hiking and the popular observation of nesting turtles from July to September.
